Santa Maria Cave

Santa Maria Cave is a peaceful and meaningful Catholic pilgrimage site on Bintan Island. Also known as Gua Maria Bintan, this place offers a spiritual atmosphere in an open natural setting, with a well-maintained garden, rows of shady trees, and a peaceful ambiance suitable for reflection and private prayer.

One of the main attractions of Santa Maria Cave is the Stations of the Cross, consisting of 14 points depicting the Passion of Jesus Christ. The statues and reliefs illustrating each station are crafted with artistic detail and blend beautifully with the natural landscape. At the end of the path, visitors will find a statue of the Virgin Mary in an artificial grotto, which serves as the main prayer point.

Although it is a Catholic pilgrimage site, Santa Maria Cave is open to the public and is often visited by tourists from various backgrounds. Many come not only to pray but also to enjoy the calm and refreshing natural atmosphere. At certain times, such as Holy Week or the Month of Mary, this place becomes a hub for the local Catholic community's worship.

Facilities in the cave area are simple but adequate, including seating, toilets, and parking space. There is also a place to write prayers or light votive candles near the main statue. Visitors are encouraged to maintain quiet and respect the spiritual atmosphere while in the area.

Santa Maria Cave is easily accessible by vehicle from Tanjungpinang city center or Trikora, with a travel time of approximately 45–60 minutes. The journey to the location offers refreshing views of rural landscapes and green hills.
